Nova Sintra, Aug 8 (Inforpress) - The Biflores Association is transforming the invasive plant Lantana camara into pieces of art and furniture, in a project that combines environmental sustainability with artistic creativity, the leader of the initiative told Inforpress today.

The project, developed in partnership with the association's technicians, according to Danielson Pina da Cruz, has the main objective of controlling the proliferation of the invasive species and, at the same time, using the material to create value.

The production process begins with removing the plant from its natural habitat so that native trees can be planted in its place.

"The plant, which is an invasive species, is removed so we can plant another tree in its place. However, we use the Lantana camara. Once removed, we begin cleaning it and then it is placed in the fire to be boiled, so the piece becomes softer and more flexible to be worked," explained Danielson da Cruz.
