Praia, Jun 16 (Inforpress) - Cabo Verde is taking part this Tuesday 17th in the 10th session of the Unesco Convention on Underwater Cultural Heritage in Paris, where it will present the experience of the Chantier École, held in the Cidade Velha.
According to the government statement, the country will be represented by the Minister of Culture and Creative Industries, Augusto Veiga, who will speak at the conference on ‘Building capacity for the protection and enhancement of African underwater cultural heritage’, organised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
During the session, Cabo Verde will present the work carried out as part of the first “Chantier École” in underwater archaeology, held in June 2024 in the Cidade Velha, a World Heritage site, with the participation of researchers from eight African countries and Portugal.
The Cape Verdean presence, as indicated, reinforces the country's commitment to the 2001 Convention and efforts to protect, enhance and integrate submerged cultural heritage into public policies and sustainable development strategies.
