Porto Novo, 7 September (Inforpress) – Today, the residents of Chã de Branquinho, in the municipality of Porto Novo on Santo Antão, once again drew attention to the problem of drinking water quality in the area and called for local authorities to take action.

The spokesperson for the population, Octávio Inocêncio, told Inforpress that residents continue to consume "poor quality water," a situation known to municipal officials that needs to be resolved for the good of the community.

He explained that the water consumed in Chã de Branquinho comes from a spring near Dominguinhas and flows to the local fountain via a water channel, carrying all the dirt with it.

The same source pointed out that the local population has, on several occasions, drawn the attention to the City Council of Porto Novo regarding the poor quality of the drinking water, and is therefore requesting that a water supply be installed to the drinking fountain.
