Praia, 07 Nov (Inforpress) – The Mayor of Praia today responded to statements from SISCAP accusing the municipality of alleged violations of labour rights involving SEPAMP staff, insisting that City Hall is “the first union” defending its workforce.

He made these remarks to the press in response to allegations from the Trade Union for Industry, Services, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries (SISCAP) of alleged “breaches of legality” and “discriminatory and abusive labour practices” on the part of the municipality.

“Every matter relating to workers is receiving our maximum attention. Throughout our first term, and now in our second, our priority has been to look after the employees of the municipal authority,” said the mayor.

Francisco Carvalho stated that a number of measures have been taken in favour of staff, including the provision of psychological support and the supply of personal protective equipment so that workers feel safe in their workplace.
