Fogo: EU Catholic admits plans to set up a research centre focusing on the island’s history and translation

São Filipe, 7 August (Inforpress) – The Catholic University College (EU Católica) is considering setting up a research centre on the island in the future, focusing on the areas of history and translation, according to its director, José Eduardo, who revealed this on Thursday.

The announcement was made during the first edition of EU Católica Discover, an initiative that took the institution to Fogo Island with the purpose of getting to know the communities better, valuing the local culture, and bringing academic knowledge closer to the reality of the islands.

According to José Eduardo, the creation of a potential research center could result from the island's rich historical and cultural heritage, leveraging existing collections of works and establishing partnerships with local institutions, notably the House of Memory.

"This could be the beginning of a future Research Center of the Catholic University School here on Fogo Island, perhaps in partnership with the House of Memory or other institutions we have here," he stated.
