Mindelo, Apr 15 (Inforpress) - The National Directorate of Health held a training session in Mindelo today to enable professionals to alleviate the suffering of patients with terminal illnesses and help with quality of life.
As the national palliative care coordinator, Valéria Semedo, told the press, the training programme is part of the national plan to ensure that palliative care is provided in health centres throughout Cabo Verde.
According to the same source, this work began in 2021 and has already made it possible to set up 15 palliative care teams on the islands of Santiago and São Vicente.
“In order to expand training, it is essential to ensure that the members, the professionals, are working in accordance with what is expected in the area of palliative care”, highlighted Valéria Semedo, referring that in 2024 they recorded a total of 759 palliative care appointments.
