Mindelo, Apr 24 (Inforpress) - The President of the Republic participates today in the opening ceremony of the international conference "Climate change and environmental education: Challenges, responses, local knowledge and opportunities", which takes place until Friday at the Lusófona University of Cabo Verde, in São Vicente.
According to a note from the Presidency of the Republic, José Maria Neves' participation will be done online, from the Beijing Room of the Palácio do Platô, and “reinforces his personal and institutional commitment to the environmental and climate cause, one of the great banners of his magistracy”.
“The presence at this international conference Climate Change and Environmental Education: Challenges, Responses, Local Knowledge and Opportunities, by Universidade Lusófona, is yet another testament to José Maria Neves’ commitment to the sustainability of the planet and sustainable development”, the note highlights.
The document also states that President José Maria Neves was internationally recognized for his leadership in this area and was declared Patron of the Ocean Decade by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and Champion for the Preservation of African Natural and Cultural Heritage by the African Union.
