Praia, May 13 (Inforpress) - Cape Verdean singer Mayra Andrade said she was ‘deeply honoured’ to be awarded the Lifetime Africa Achievement Prize during the Millennium Excellence Awards ceremony held on Saturday at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, Ghana.
‘I am deeply honoured (...). Grateful to have received the Lifetime Africa Achievement award at the Milennium Excellence Awards 2025,’ the singer wrote on her official Facebook page.
The artist also highlighted the historical and cultural relevance of Ghana and the resistance of the Ashanti people as a source of inspiration for her artistic career, emphasising that she shares this distinction with the people of Cabo Verde.
‘I am here because many before me dared to dream of forging paths, and to raise their voices to raise awareness and unite hearts (...). May this award encourage the girls and women of our continent. Our struggle is just, our voice is powerful and our place is wherever we choose to be,’ it reads.
