Praia, May 9 (Inforpress) - The Minister of National Defence assured parliament today that the Coast Guard's King Air 360 ER aircraft has an operational certificate to operate in evacuations and patrols.

Janine Lélis, who was responding to the PAICV's criticism of the King Air aircraft during the general questions period, said that the plane is certified and operational to carry out medical evacuation, patrol and search and rescue missions, assuring that the entire process of acquisition, certification and operation followed the required legal and technical procedures.

According to the official, the government is implementing what the programme provides for in terms of modernising and implementing military aviation in the country, adding that the choice of aircraft was based on its multi-purpose design, to respond to the missions of the Coast Guard.

The minister also guaranteed that the aircraft is equipped with certified medical devices and surveillance systems.
