Praia, 17 Apr (Inforpress) – The asphalting of the road that connects Calheta to Tarrafal will begin in May, confirmed today the MpD deputy Francisco Sanches, in a press conference, to react to the accusations of the PAICV that the competition report “was shelved”.
“The work on the Calheta-Tarrafal road is set to move forward and is scheduled to start in May 2025 with fireworks,” said the parliamentarian elected on the lists of the Movement for Democracy (MpD, in ruling) for the Santiago Norte constituency.
Francisco Sanches stated that, unlike the African Party for the Independence of Cabo Verde (PAICV, opposition), which for 15 years “did not give priority to this road”, the Government will fulfill this promise “with firmness and a strong sense of responsibility”.
“For this reason, we call on the opposition to be serious and responsible and let the institutions function without last-minute political pressures”, stressed Sanches, for whom the MpD’s commitment to Santiago Norte “is not idle talk” nor “propaganda for English to see”.
