Government begins to mobilize partners to fund national early-warning system – minister

Praia, 29 September (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde is mobilising partners to fund the implementation of the National Roadmap for the Early Warning System, with a view to reducing response times in emergency situations, Minister Carlos Varela has announced.

The Minister for the Environment, Climate Action and Energy was speaking to the press on the sidelines of the national event to publicise and validate the National Roadmap for the Early Warning System, established as part of the Early Warnings for All (EW4All) initiative.

Carlos Varela explained that the Government is in discussion with its partners to identify the resources needed to implement the planned measures.

“We are in dialogue with our partners and we are, in fact, mobilising the necessary funding,” he said, noting that the United Nations, the World Meteorological Organisation and other partners are already involved in the process.
