Volleyball: Atlético Clube do Mindelo crowned Cabo Verde champion for the sixth time

Mindelo, Aug 8 (Inforpress) – Atlético Clube do Mindelo is the new champion of Cabo Verde in men's senior volleyball after defeating Voley Clube Espargos (Sal) 3-1 in the final this Thursday, a feat it has achieved for the sixth time in its history.

The game was played at the Oeiras Municipal Multipurpose Hall, completely packed, on a festive day, which began with rhythmic gymnastics and dancing, followed by the champion's trophy arriving at the multipurpose hall in the hands of the Mandigas, amidst drumming, and ended with some celebrating, others saddened by the defeat, but in an atmosphere of fair play that dignified everyone.

The first of the four sets belonged to Voley Clube Espargos, who won 25-22, in a match that was balanced, as neither team was able to distance themselves from their opponents by a margin of more than two or three points.

In the second set, at a disadvantage and playing at home, Atlético started better, even managing to create a six-point difference, then Voley Clube Espargos came close, with a 17-18, but the home team regained control of the game and closed the set 25-23, and 1-1 in the game.
