University professor calls for the cultivation of ‘healthy information’ to strengthen democracy

Praia, 05 May (Inforpress) - Silvino Évora, a university professor, today emphasised the importance of responsible communication and respect on social networks, saying that healthy information must be cultivated in order to preserve democracy.

These statements were made as part of the international conference organised by the University of Cabo Verde (Uni-CV) on ‘Human Rights in Communication, Disinformation and Artificial Intelligence’, in the city of Praia.

He explained that the aim of the event is to draw attention to some fundamental rights that are often lost sight of because they are taken for granted, one of them being the right to communication.

For this communications expert, in a democratic society it is crucial to cultivate "healthy information" in order to preserve democracy.
