Santo Antão: Ribeira Grande mobilizes municipality with decentralized programme for Municipality Day 2026

Ribeira Grande, Apr 29 (Inforpress) – The City Council of Ribeira Grande today presented the programme for Municipality Day celebrations, featuring decentralized activities combining culture, sports and economy, from April 25 to May 9.

At a press conference, the mayor, Armindo Luz, framed the celebrations under the theme “Ribeira Grande in celebration: culture that unites us, land that makes us proud”, highlighting the symbolism of May 7 as an expression of the municipality’s identity.

According to the mayor, the programme was designed to cover all localities and age groups, combining cultural, sports and educational initiatives, with a focus on promoting local talent and strengthening social cohesion.

“The cultural component includes exhibitions, including Vida Kotidian by artist Severo Delgado, as well as creative laboratories aimed at schools and young people, promoting artistic expression and community participation,” he said.
