President of the Republic Promulgates the 2026 State Budget

Praia City, Dec 30 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, today promulgated the State Budget (OE2026) for the 2026 fiscal year, following its approval by the National Assembly last November.

The budget document amounts to 95.7 billion escudos and was approved in the National Assembly with 37 votes in favor from MpD (ruling party), while PAICV (opposition) voted against it and the four UCID (opposition) members abstained in the general vote.

This is the last budget of the current legislature, in a political context marked by the proximity of the 2026 legislative elections.

State Budget 2026 forecasts a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of 6 percent (%), controlled inflation at 1.6%, a reduced budget deficit of 0.9% of GDP, and public debt projected at 97.4% of GDP.
