Praia, Apr 23 (Inforpress) - The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, today called for the mobilization of all Cape Verdean society, companies, churches, non-governmental organizations and community leaders to face the social challenges that persist in the country's most vulnerable neighborhoods.

The head of state was speaking to the press at the end of a visit to the Garah Foundation, in Achada Limpo, Praia, which had as its main objective, as he said, to give visibility to structural problems such as poverty, social inequality, unemployment and drug addiction, which are still strongly present in several communities.

“We still have problems related to housing, employment, and family income. We still have a lot of poverty, we have significant areas of social inequality”, said José Maria Neves.

“We have many asymmetries between the different neighborhoods. We have issues related to drug addiction and alcoholism. And these are issues that deserve the attention of Cape Verdean society and citizens,” he added.
