Praia, Apr 25 (Inforpress) - The Presidency of the Republic will host, on May 2, the celebrations of World Press Freedom Day, with a series of conferences aimed at discussing the main challenges faced by the media in Cabo Verde.
According to a statement, the opening ceremony, scheduled for 8 am, will feature speeches by the representative of the Cabo Verde Journalists' Union Association (AJOC), the President of the Republic and a representative of the Government.
Throughout the day, four thematic panels will be held, the first of which, at 9 am, will address "Job insecurity in journalism" and will feature interventions by Eurídice Mascarenhas (CNDHC), Júlio Ascenso Silva (IPRODIAL) and Orlando Lima (Observatório da Cidadania), moderated by Rosana Almeida.
The second panel will begin at 11 am and will be dedicated to the theme "Threats and intimidation: how to protect Cape Verdean journalists?", with contributions from Carlos Santos, Hermínio Silves and Nardi Sousa, moderated by Marilene Pereira.
