Praia: Mayor promises to award regional champions in various sports later this year

Praia, Apr 17 (Inforpress) - The mayor of Praia, Francisco Carvalho, promised on Wednesday to hold a ceremony this year to award regional champions of different sports in the municipality.

The mayor of Praia made this promise at the end of the award ceremony for the champions of the 2024-2025 Santiago Sul football season, which took place at Alexandre Albuquerque square, in Platô, in the city of Praia.

“We will not set a specific date, but we will organize an identical event for the indoor sports this year. We will continue to offer more prizes because what the city government needs to do is create more incentives and better conditions for the athletes in this municipality,” he promised.

Francisco Carvalho also said that the municipality would pay special attention to the pitches and multi-purpose sports centres in order to expand indoor sports, explaining that it was necessary to create better conditions for athletes to practise sport, which would contribute to their progress and bring them more victories.
