Praia: Colectivo Simenti is holding a pre-release event today for their instrumental album “Minimal”, which draws on Cape Verdean music

Praia, 6 August (Inforpress) – The Simenti music collective is holding a pre-launch event for their album “Minimal” today at 7.00 pm at the Portuguese Cultural Centre in Praia. The album’s sound is rooted in Cape Verdean music, and the event will feature an instrumental music performance with free admission.

The initiative, presented by Xintidu, brings together eight musicians in a line-up combining bass, piano, drums, guitar and percussion, with the aim of introducing the public to the collective’s instrumental recordings.

“The album, as a whole, has a Cape Verdean sound. Simenti’s roots lie entirely in Cape Verdean music, such as batuque and funaná, amongst other genres, to which the musicians add the experiences they have gained throughout their lives. It is a Cape Verdean music group, but with a style that is open to the world,” the group’s communications manager, Paulo Linhares, told Inforpress today.
