Mindelo, Apr 11 (Inforpress) - Six Portuguese specialists in palliative care are coming to Cabo Verde to train more than 50 doctors in the field of pain and palliative care between Saturday 12th and Tuesday 15th in Santo Antão and São Vicente.

According to São Vicente's health delegate, Elísio Silva, the training will take place on Tuesday in the auditorium of the health centre.

According to the same source, this initiative is part of the National Palliative Care Programme, which has developed training activities for professionals working in this area, with the aim of ‘providing tools’ for ‘quality care’ for users.

On the Portuguese side, according to the Lusa news agency, the initiative is made possible through the support of the medical civic intervention group Iniciativa Médica 3M (IM3M) and the delegation is led by Professor Marília Dourado, from the Faculty of Medicine of Coimbra, and by Hugo Ribeiro, a palliative care doctor at the Local Health Unit of Gaia and Espinho and professor at the Faculties of Medicine of Coimbra and Porto, and also includes a seventh member, a lawyer specialising in the area of health.
