Praia, May 21 (Inforpress) - The Prime Minister said today that the Government has taken a series of measures with an impact on improving transparency, accountability, control and financial supervision of the State.

Ulisses Correia e Silva, who spoke at the opening of the debate with deputies on transparency and development, a topic chosen by the PAICV parliamentary group, stated that transparency is not just an “ethical commitment”, it is the “foundation” of sustainable development in a country like Cabo Verde.

“Transparency affects trust. And trust is important in the State’s relationship with citizens, development partners, businesspeople and investors,” stressed the Head of Government.

The Prime Minister recalled that Cabo Verde’s “good reputation” internationally has been built on the basis of stability, good governance and low risks related to corruption.
