Parliament: PAICV once again criticizes “disastrous policies and disorder” in the transport sector

Praia, May 8 (Inforpress) – Today, the African Party for the Independence of Cabo Verde (PAICV, opposition) today criticized the Government for the “real disorder” and implementation of “disastrous policies” in maritime transport, which has generated “constraints” for Cape Verdeans and “consequences for the national economy”.

João do Carmo, MP, made the criticism of the largest opposition party during the PAICV's political declaration, recalling that the issue of transport in Cabo Verde represented a ‘major challenge’ for the country after independence.

But, he emphasised, the government at the time managed to solve the problems, transforming Cabo Verde into a ‘viable country’, with ‘more than 20 ships’ in the merchant navy, industrial fishing boats and an air transport company.

However, according to the PAICV MP, since 2016 the country and Cape Verdeans have witnessed ‘complete disorder’ in the air and maritime transport sectors, ‘a real chaos’, which has had ‘disastrous consequences’ for the national economy and for citizens who yearn to ‘live in freedom’.
