Parliament: PAICV accuses government of making wrong decisions with negative consequences for Cape Verdeans

Praia, Jun 25 (Inforpress) – Janira Hopffer Almada, a PAICV member of parliament, today accused the government of taking ‘several wrong decisions in all areas and with negative consequences’ for Cape Verdeans and the country's development.

The MP from the African Party for the Independence of Cabo Verde (PAICV, opposition) made these accusations while speaking in the parliamentary debate on the present and future of the Cape Verdean economy, sustainable growth strategies and innovation, proposed by the MpD.

She criticised the government for not creating the conditions to improve the health sector and for using the droughts, the war in Ukraine and the Covid-19 pandemic to shirk its responsibility and not fulfil its election promises.

“We all remember your promise of 45,000 decent jobs and the promise of scholarships at the best universities in the world for young Cape Verdeans. But today you're the one who argues that selling donuts, turning tyres and processing rubbish is entrepreneurship," she criticised.
