Parliament: MP of the MpD says that are PAICV militants who benefit of the water in Mosteiros

Praia, Mar 27 (Inforpress) - Filipe Santos, a member of parliament, said today that he had information according to which ‘the PAICV militants, technicians and councillors’ of the City Council of Mosteiros have been benefiting from water in the municipality.

The member of the Movement for Democracy (MpD) list, made this accusation to contradict the statements made by Cape Verdean African Independence Party (PAICV) MP Almeida Louro, at the institute of general questions, when he spoke about the problems of the lack of water for irrigation on the island.

Filipe Santos suggested that his colleague ask the mayor of São Filipe, Nuias Silva, who, according to him, ‘chairs the Inter-municipal Water Company’, which is ‘responsible for distributing water for irrigation’, for an explanation.

The level of poverty in Fogo, according to Almeida Louro, is ‘high’, especially in the rural areas, which is why the government urgently needs to take measures to minimise the situation
