Praia, Oct 9 (Inforpress) – The PAICV today accused the Government of poor governance and a lack of planning in the face of the energy and water crisis in Santiago and announced the proposal to create a Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry to investigate the causes.

In his political statement, Congressman Carlos Tavares stated that the country is facing "an energy emergency," marked by prolonged power outages that have compromised the economy, public services, and family well-being.

"This crisis is not a coincidence, but rather a lack of planning and investment in a strategic sector. Since 2016, not a single generator has been acquired, and renewable energy penetration has fallen from 25 percent to 18 percent," he stated.

The deputy from the main opposition party accused the government of "bad governance" and criticized the "silence of the prime minister," Ulisses Correia e Silva, in the face of what he described as "a collapse of the national energy system," considering the lack of a coordinated political response unacceptable.
