Mindelo, 04 Nov (Inforpress) – The “Aurora” edition of the Mindelo International Theatre Festival (Mindelact) opened on Monday night, the 3rd, and seeks to inspire “a stronger Cabo Verde” and one in which culture “acts as beacon and shelter”.
This was stated by the Minister of Culture and Creative Industries, Augusto Veiga, when presiding in Mindelo over the opening of the event, held at the National Centre for Art, Craft and Design (CNAD).
In this year marking 50 years of National Independence, Mindelact, he noted, carries an “even deeper meaning”, celebrating half a century of freedom, affirmation and Cabo Verdean creative expression.
Over three decades, the Mindelo theatre festival has consolidated itself, according to Augusto Veiga, as “one of the largest theatre festivals on the African continent and a symbol of Cabo Verde’s cultural diplomacy in the world”.
