Mindelo, October 30 (Inforpress) – Filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist Leão Lopes denounced, in Maputo (Mozambique), that the Cape Verdean state has never officially financed any cinematographic work by Cape Verdean authors, but supports foreign productions in an industry that is “still totally dependent”.
Leão Lopes made the criticisms while representing the country at the third edition of the Audiovisual Heritage Encounters, which are taking place in Maputo until Friday, the 31st, bringing together academics, filmmakers and other professionals from the sector from the Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP).
"It is a fact that Cabo Verde has never officially financed a film by a Cape Verdean auteur," reads the note sent to Inforpress by the event's Press Office.
