Espargos, Mar 27 (Inforpress) - Former first lady Lígia Fonseca stressed today in Sal that there is one sector of Cape Verdean women's lives that still causes ‘great concern’, and that is their participation in political life.
Lígia Fonseca expressed this concern during the opening of the conference ‘The importance of women in politics and the family’, organised by the Salense municipality to mark Cape Verdean Women's Day on 27 March, which was attended by women from various sectors of society.
For Lígia Fonseca, although the instruments that have already been created to facilitate this participation are still ‘not at the desired level’.
‘This means that there is still work to be done, to identify the reasons why this woman, who is an active woman, very informed, increasingly better educated, has not yet had a large participation of Cape Verdean women,’ she emphasised.
