Brava: Producers and livestock farmers “concerned” about the situation of agriculture on the island

Nova Sintra, Apr 17 (Inforpress) - Producers and breeders on Brava Island consider that the situation of agriculture and livestock farming in the municipality is “worrying”, taking into account the scarcity of animals and the “poor distribution of water” by the company Águabrava.

The considerations come from a group of farmers and breeders from the municipality, after a meeting with the delegate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment in the municipality, held on Wednesday, 16, in Nova Sintra.

José Andrade, one of the event organizers, told Inforpres that the municipality was a place that had many animals and that the other islands were looking for animals to buy, but that currently the lack of them “is notable”.

“In the past, meat was sold every day, but today sales occur occasionally, because the few animals that Brava Island still has are being sold mutually to the other islands,” declared José Andrade.

According to the same source, there has always been a problem with water on the island, but he considered that if it were well distributed by Águabrava, farmers or breeders would be able to receive the minimum for their activities.
