Praia, May 18 (Inforpress) – Mário Semedo, the president of the Cape Verdean Football Federation (FCF), , stated today that “logistical constraints related to transportation” are preventing the national team from travelling to all the country’s islands during preparations for the 2026 World Cup.

Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the presentation of the players called up to represent Cape Verde at the 2026 World Cup, Mário Semedo explained that the programme includes visits to different islands of the country as part of an initiative the federation has been developing and intends to implement on the ground.

According to the official, the initial intention was to cover the entire archipelago, but transportation and logistical constraints have affected the execution of the plan.

“I hope people understand this,” he stated, stressing that travel is being prioritised to islands with greater mobility access.
