Maio: Organizers expect strong turnout of visitors for Santa Cruz celebrations

Porto Inglês, Apr 29 (Inforpress) – Organizers of the Santa Cruz festivities on the island of Maio expect to welcome many visitors during the celebrations, whose highlight will be on May 3 with the traditional pilgrimage to the Cross.

The festivities, promoted by the festival judges in partnership with the Tabanka DjarMai Association, began in early April and continue with a series of cultural, sports and religious activities in the city of Porto Inglês.

The programme includes traditional tabanka performances, cultural festivals, musical entertainment, recreational activities and moments of community gathering, mobilizing different neighbourhoods of the city as well as visitors from other islands and the diaspora.

According to the organizers, a large flow of people is expected in the coming days, in one of the most emblematic and oldest celebrations on the island of Maio.
