Praia, Apr 21 (Inforpress) – The Cape Verdean Football Federation (FCF) condemned the “racist insults” suffered by Cabo Verde international Hildeberto Pereira at the end of the match between his team, Operário Ferroviário, and Vila Nova, in Brazil.
The case was reported by the player himself after the match, claiming he was called a “monkey” by a supporter.
“Having become aware of the racist insults directed at our international Hildeberto Pereira during a football match between his club, Operário Ferroviário, and Vila Nova, the Cape Verdean Football Federation strongly condemns such acts,” the FCF wrote on its official Facebook page.
According to the Federation, racism has no place in football, should not be part of the game or society, as it is an attack on human dignity and on values such as respect and equality that underpin football.
