Mindelo, April 13 (Inforpress) – The Brazilian Minister of Culture expressed her gratitude this Sunday in Mindelo for the opportunity she had to learn about aspects of Carnival that relate to African ancestry, but also to many similarities with Brazilian culture.

Margareth Menezes made these remarks to the press after visiting the headquarters of the winning group of the 2026 Mindelo Carnival, Cruzeiros do Norte, where she arrived accompanied by the Minister of Culture of Cabo Verde, Augusto Veiga, and wearing a shirt of Cesária Évora, who, as she said before, is one of her musical references.

She began by expressing gratitude for the opportunity to witness the performance of the Cruzeiros do Norte samba school's drum section, along with the drum section queen, dancers, flag bearer, master of ceremonies, and some members of the Mandingas de Ribeira Bote group.

Moreover, the Brazilian governor pointed out similarities with expressions from Bahia, where there is also a culture of painted men, similar to the Mandinga people.
