Praia, April 1 (Inforpress) - The Ministry of Tourism and Transport today guaranteed that Cape Verde shows no evidence of "any outbreak of gastroenteritis," refuting information published by international magazines about cases of infections among tourists on the islands of Sal and Boa Vista.

In a statement sent to Inforpress, the ministry assured that the country has been monitoring the situation through an epidemiological surveillance system, in close coordination with health authorities and tourism operators, based on national technical and scientific investigations.

The statement clarifies that the data analyzed "do not indicate any abnormal change" in the epidemiological situation and that the identified cases are under investigation.

“According to the epidemiological surveillance carried out, there are no recorded deaths from foodborne infections, particularly from Shigella, in Cabo Verde,” the document states.
