Praia, Jan 28 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, who begins today a six-day official visit to France, said that, in addition to matters related to Africa–Europe relations, he intends to discuss issues concerning small island states with his French counterpart.
José Maria Neves, who is scheduled to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday, the 30th, said that the international system is currently experiencing a “severe weakening” of multilateralism, marked by non-compliance with the United Nations Charter.
“There is a rupture in the international order, alongside intense geostrategic, geopolitical and geo-economic rivalry among major powers,” the President of the Republic stressed.
In his view, small states must seek forms and channels of engagement in a “pragmatic and realistic” manner, aimed at establishing constructive partnerships to address the “pressing challenges facing humanity.”
