Praia, Oct 8 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Education said today that the Government is fulfilling its commitments to the teaching profession and consolidating a reform agenda aimed at improving the quality, equity and modernization of the Cape Verdean education system.
In his speech at the first plenary session of the new parliamentary year, Amadeu Cruz highlighted that the 2025/2026 academic year began “with renewed optimism and confidence”, maintaining that education continues to be “the cause that unites the Cape Verdean nation as an instrument of mobility and human qualification for the economic, social, scientific and cultural development of the country”.
According to the government official, the Ministry of Education has completed the secondary education curriculum reform and consolidated the primary education reform, while also initiating the pre-school reform.
In terms of teaching materials, Amadeu Cruz stated that the country already has its own textbooks for grades 1 to 9, and that those for grades 10 and 11 will be available by the end of the first quarter of 2026, both in print and digital versions, which he considers "a gain in terms of the digital transition of the education system."
