Praia, Sep 19 (Inforpress) – The Cape Verdean beach volleyball team, made up of sisters Ludmila and Janice Varela, debuted today in Lille (France) with a defeat to their Hungarian counterparts, in the Pro Future Stage.

According to information provided by the Cape Verdean Volleyball Federation, the Cape Verdean duo lost 2-0, with scores of 23-21 and 21-15, against a duo from Hungary, considered one of the strongest competitors in this competition.

The Cape Verdean team, led by Brazilian coach Márcio Araújo, returns to the court on Saturday, the 20th, committed to "fighting for a victory", as they seek to win points, seeking to qualify for the next Olympic Games and World Championship, as representatives of the African region.

The Pro Tour 2025 FIVB, referred to as a World Cup stage, features 16 teams competing for four spots, which will join the 12 already pre-qualified, thus forming the final table with 16 teams.
