Praia, May 14 (Inforpress) - The Cape Verdean senior men's basketball team will compete in Group A of the African qualifiers for the 2027 World Cup, to be held in Qatar, with the national teams of Cameroon, South Sudan and Libya.

At the draw held this Tuesday in Dora, the initial paths were set for all the nations seeking a ‘valuable spot’ at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, where 80 nations will enter the competition for the ‘prestigious’ Naismith Trophy.

Africa will enter the race with 16 teams in the fight for five places at the Qatar 2027 World Cup, with Group B comprising the national teams of Senegal, Congo, Madagascar and Côte d'Ivoire.

Nigeria, Rwanda, Guinea Conakry and Tunisia make up Pool C, while Group D is made up of the national teams of Mali, Angola, Uganda and Egypt.
