Mindelo, Apr 29 (Inforpress) – The leader of the PAICV Regional Political Commission in São Vicente said today, at a press conference, that the exclusion of protagonists of the fight for independence from the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of this historic milestone is a national shame.

Adilson Jesus, president of the Regional Political Commission of the African Party for the Independence of Cabo Verde (PAICV, opposition), in São Vicente, also considered it scandalous that in the official speeches produced by the Prime Minister and the Mayor of São Vicente, two high-ranking figures in the State of Cabo Verde, no reference was made to the national liberation struggle or to Amílcar Cabral.

“We cannot believe that they forgot to invite Commander Pedro Pires, Silvino da Luz, Luís Fonseca, Olívio Pires and all the Freedom Fighters of the Homeland, through the association that represents them, to the official opening of these celebrations”, criticized the politician for whom this was a deliberate and conscious act, a vain attempt to rewrite history and want to make us forget the names of the Cape Verdean protagonists linked to national independence.
