Praia, Apr 9 (Inforpress) - The deputy of UCID said today that there are “great difficulties” in terms of housing and mentioned the case of São Vicente where more than two thousand families live in drum houses.

“Fifty years after independence, people can't be living in very poor quality housing,‘ pointed out António Monteiro, a member of parliament elected on the lists of the Independent and Democratic Cape Verdean Union (UCID-opposition) for the São Vicente constituency, citing the example of the island where, according to him, ’more than ten thousand people live in an extremely difficult situation".

António Monteiro made these considerations in the debate with the Minister of Infrastructure, Territorial Planning and Housing, Victor Coutinho, who made his debut in this capacity in parliament.

In his view, the successive governments have made a lot of roads, but there is still a lot to be done.
