Praia, 21 Oct (Inforpress) – Prices for tourism services rose by 7.5 per cent in the third quarter of 2026, year-on-year, four percentage points more than in the previous quarter, driven mainly by a rise in accommodation prices.

According to the Tourism Price Index (IPT), published today by the National Statistics Institute (INE), the quarterly change stood at 5.2 per cent, compared with 0.6 per cent in the second quarter of this year and 1.3 per cent in the same period of 2025, reflecting seasonal factors, particularly in the accommodation component.

In the hotels, cafés and restaurants sector, prices rose by 7.5 per cent year-on-year. Among the islands analysed, Boa Vista recorded the largest increase, at 8.6 per cent, followed by São Vicente, at 7.5 per cent, Santo Antão, at 7 per cent, Sal, at 6.3 per cent, and Santiago, at 3 per cent.

Car hire also recorded a year-on-year increase of 6.4 per cent, whilst prices for entertainment and cultural services remained unchanged compared with the third quarter of 2025.
