São Vicente: Terra Tambor Association combines popular and religious activities to maintain tradition

Mindelo, June 22 (Inforpress) - The Terra Tambor Association begins the San Jon (Saint John) festivities in São Vicente on Wednesday, June 24, with the traditional march, the schedule of which has been arranged so as not to interfere with religious activities, mass and procession.

Speaking to Inforpress, the association's president, António Tavares, explained that, as every year, they plan to start with the traditional march from the center of Mindelo towards Ribeira de Julião, the site of the festivities.

However, according to the same source, the gathering should take place at 2:30 PM, with the departure at 3:00 PM and then arrival, before the mass and procession.

"Last year we had some difficulties with this issue, and this year we decided to create a schedule to reconcile the two activities," he argued.
