Praia, July 30 (Inforpress) - The Cape Verde Journalists' Union Association (AJOC) came out today to repudiate the recent attacks directed at journalist Rosana Almeida, following the broadcast of a report on Cabo Verde Television (TCV).
In the document, AJOC classifies the attacks as "verbal, gratuitous and ignoble", considering them an "unjustifiable and worrying aggression", especially because they come from well-known figures in Cape Verdean society, who, it continues, "should be defenders of respect for the free exercise of journalism".
The association also warns of “a growing context of verbal aggression and intimidation” against media professionals, stressing that this trend cannot be normalized in a democratic society.
'The silence of responsible political figures is also a reason for concern,' states the document.
