Afrobasket: Cabo Verde debuts on August 13 against the Democratic Republic of the Congo

Praia, July 29 (Inforpress) – The Cape Verdean senior men's basketball team will debut in the 2025 edition of Afrobasket, to be played in Angola on August 13 against its counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo, FIBA Africa announced.

The “Tubarões Azuis” the name by which the Cabo Verde national teams are known, will compete again two days later, on 15 August, this time against the Ivory Coast national team, to close out the group stage with the Rwandan national team, in a match to be held on 17 August.

According to the programme, the Cape Verdean delegation will leave the training camp in Portugal on Thursday 31st to travel to Angola.

Afrobasket'2025 will be played in August and September in Angola (in the cities of Luanda, Benguela and Namibe), the country where Cabo Verde won its bronze medal in 2007.
