Espargos, May 28 (Inforpress) – Today, the Sal island hosted the public presentation of the results of the “Sustainable Development Schools” project, an initiative aimed at strengthening cooperation between the municipality and Portugal, focusing on environmental education and vocational training.
The project is the result of a partnership involving the Professional School of Tábua, Oliveira do Hospital and Arganil, Portugal (EPTOLIVA), the Municipal Council of Sal and local schools Olavo Moniz Primary and Secondary School (EBSOM) and Manoel António Martins Educational Complex (CEMAM).
Speaking to the press, EPTOLIVA president Daniel Costa explained that the initiative, now in its second year of implementation following a “year zero” trial phase, seeks to promote knowledge sharing and integrate schools into community dynamics.
Under the theme “Water”, this academic year’s programme included lectures by specialists, photography competitions, technical visits and practical environmental preservation activities, such as a beach clean-up campaign recently carried out in Sal simultaneously with river beach clean-ups in Portugal.
