Praia, Oct 5 (Inforpress) – World Teacher’s Day, celebrated on October 5, is celebrated with sadness among Cabo Verdean teachers, said the president of the National Union of Teachers (SINDEP), Nicolau Furtado.
The unionist justifies this feeling with the “non-resolution of the many problems” that have been affecting the class for several years, namely the non-payment of the benefit for not reducing the workload of 2012 to 2015, the progressions of 2014 and the reclassifications of 2014 to 2017.
On the other hand, Nicolau Furtado said that there are several teachers who were not admitted in the public tender and who are unemployed, when the promise of the current Government was to increase employment.
“There is a total disorganization of the Ministry of Education and this shows that the ministry is not prepared for the opening of the school year, especially with this change,” he said, indicating that teachers’ sadness is also related to the errors in the new textbooks.
