World Statistics Day: Praia hosts debate on meaning of reliable data to connect the world

Praia, Oct 20 (Inforpress) – The city of Praia hosts today a debate on the meaning of reliable data to connect the world, promoted by the National Statistics Institute (INE), within the scope of World Statistics Day.

In a statement, INE states that the event is part of the celebrations of World Statistics Day, which is marked on the same day, saying that timely, reliable, up-to-date and high-quality data are necessary to understand the changing world.

“Investing in data and statistics is the only way to be able to make the necessary decisions to combat and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and get on the right path towards achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals”, reads the document.

In the same note, it is said that the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic has increased the importance of data and statistics, revealing that it may be easier to keep up with the dynamics of a rapidly changing global situation if geospatial data and information are merged.
