World Qualifying 2022: Cape Verde draws in Nigeria (1-1) and Qatar World Failure

Praia, Nov 17 (Inforpress) – The national football team of Cabo Verde failed to access the African play-offs for the World Cup 2022 in Qatar by drawing 1-1 with Nigeria in a game played on Tuesday afternoon at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.

In this game for the sixth and final round of Group C of African qualifying for the World Cup 202 in Qatar, in which Cabo Verde was forced to win to qualify for the African play-offs, the Nigerian team, playing in front of his public, came virtually to win, as in the first minute of the game advanced to the scoreboard, through Osimhen, a goal conceded by a Creole defender.

It is certain that in the six minutes, Cabo Verde restored the equality, in a goal scored by Stopira, the defense had scored the goal last Saturday in the victory of Cabo Verde against the Central African Republic in São Vicente.

With the draw at half-time, Cabo Verde tried at all costs to score the winning goal, but Nigeria showed more experience to play with the result favourable to his aspirations. With this result, Nigeria won Group C with 13 points, followed by Cabo Verde with 11, and Liberia with six (won the Central African Republic 3-1) and the Central African Republic with four.
