Assomada, Oct 17 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Health and Social Security praised the gains made in terms of food and nutrition security, recalling, however, that the fight against food insecurity requires the involvement of all and in an articulated manner.
Arlindo do Rosário was speaking on Wednesday representing the Government at the opening of the conference to mark World Food Day, celebrated today, under the theme “Our actions are our future. Healthy Diets for a #ZeroHunger” World.
The event, which took place at the University of Santiago (US) premises in Assomada, Santa Catarina (Santiago), was hosted by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO in Cabo Verde) in partnership with the Ministry Agriculture and Environment.
“Food and nutrition security is everyone’s responsibility… and requires the involvement of all island-specific sectors and approaches and each council. Therefore, I am convinced that by engaging everyone and in a coordinated and concerted manner by implementing measures and strategies to combat food insecurity, we will be able to overcome Cabo Verde’s challenges and achieve the goals of better nutrition, and above all, healthy eating for our population,” he said.
