WFP joins Cabo Verde to mobilising resources to strengthen school feeding

Praia, Apr 19 (Inforpress) – The World Food Programme (WFP) will help Cabo Verde to mobilize resources to strengthen school canteens, and see the possibility of food assistance, taking into account the impacts of the international crisis.

These statements were made by the WFP Regional Director of the United Nations, Chris Nikoi, on the sidelines of a meeting held today with the Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Gilberto Silva, who was also attended by the FAO representative  in Cabo Verde, Ana Touza.

The aim of the meeting follows the request of the Government of Cabo Verde to strengthen school feeding, to develop strategies for strengthening, and at the same time to discuss the possibility of food assistance, taking into account the international crisis and its consequence on food security.

“I just had a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture. The world is facing the challenge of food security and this has a big impact in a small country like Cabo Verde, so we will accompany Cabo Verde in all the changes resulting from the crisis”, he assured.
